Magic Minute A Desperate Waterfall Plunge
MAGIC MINUTE // “My brother Brian and his adventurous mates were about to run the treacherous rapids of the mighty Thompson River, for it was in full flood.
But he soon found himself separated from the group and hurtling over an unseen waterfall.
Sideswiping boulders, he was flung out of his kayak, hard against the rock wall with a thundering sheet of water crashing down in front of him.
“This is it!” He thought, trying to get a hold on the slippery rocks. “How am I going to get out of this?”
Then in what seemed like an eternity, he desperately inched himself to safety with a sheer will to live – and collapsed totally spent.
“But the others?”, he thought. So he hauled himself up, barely making it to his mate Dawsey, who was trying to pull a disheveled canoe up the bank.
“Come on, Smaley,” Dawsey chided. “Don’t just stand there! Come and give us a hand to salvage this stuff!”
You gotta laugh, but it wasn’t funny at the time. I’m Laurie Smale… Till my next Magic Minute.
