Magic Minute Times For Kindness and Goodwill
MAGIC MINUTE // I once saw a guy park a nice new motor mower beside his hard rubbish stack.
“Is this going out?” I asked.
“Yeah. Uh, my dad just died and I’m cleaning out his shed. It’s yours.”
I couldn’t believe it. For life had been tough and my old mower had just conked out.
Profoundly moved. I never forgot his kindness. But that’s only half the story.
Weeks later, I came across an as new extension hedge clipper still in its plastic bag near some other rubbish.
But I found it too dangerous to use, and it languished in my shed for ages.
The other day, I spied a lawnmower man trimming a massive hedge with his extension clipper. And as Christmas was near, I walked over and said, “Would you like a hedge clipper just like the one you’re using? It’s virtually new and you can have it.”
At my place, he couldn’t believe it, for there it was, all still in its packaging!
I then shared the story of my motor mower gift when I was desperately in need of it and that it was now his turn to receive.
Deeply moved, he said, “Christmas has come early for my clipper gave up the ghost yesterday and I have a ton of work to finish!”
“Well, it’s yours,” I said, and I helped him out to his truck with it.
I’m Laurie Smale… Till my next Magic Minute. 🪄
