Magic Minute Reluctant Stand In
MAGIC MINUTE // Ever been dragooned into a short-term stand-in for something you weren’t that comfortable with?
Well, this happened to me with a group of old guys as organizer of their monthly men’s dinner.
But my mind soon changed for among these oldies were many interesting people, like an engineer; a ship captain; a famous radio announcer; a school principal; an airline official; a Marino farmer; brick layer – and on it went.
Each meeting I’d feature one of them sitting out front in a chair and we’d field questions and interact for half hour or so with me as facilitator… where we learned a lot about each other and ourselves!
In time, this interesting bunch of old fogies became my friends. and my short-term stint turned into eight enjoyable years.
