Magic Minute Teenage Humanity

MAGIC MINUTE // It was a blazing summer’s day and Ingred was enjoying a refreshing ice cream in Munich Central Square.

The only problem was it was dripping all over her so she turned to a nearby rubbish bin to finish eating the messy ice cream over it.

In the meantime a group of joyful teenage girls came strolling by only to be confronted by the sad spectacle of this poor old lady eating an ice cream she’d scrounged from the rubbish bin.

This pitiful scene must have tugged at their heartstrings for one of them walked over and said “Can we buy you something to eat?”

Touched by their kindness Ingred smiled and thanked them for their kind offer and then explained the unusual situation to them – and that she was indeed enjoying their city and their ice cream very much!

Even decades later Ingred recalls, “This kind gesture from a group of young strangers still gives me a nice feeling about the humanity of youth.”

I’m Laurie Smale… Till my next Magic Minute.🪄
