Magic Minute The Great Camel Ride

MAGIC MINUTE // At our Primary School Twilight Fair, I talk my tentative 8-year-old daughter into an exciting camel ride around the school oval to expand her knowledge and experiences of the world.

“They’re very friendly and the man will lead you,” I said to shore her up and ally her fears.

Then securing the saddle away they went.

“That’s my girl,” l proudly mused, seeing their silhouettes rocking to and fro like something out of a Lawrence of Arabia movie on the far side of the oval.

Now back where they started I gently lifted her down and said, “Well how’d it go?”

“It stinks!” she said.

Well, she had a point there.
