MAGIC MINUTE // A tremendous explosion blew flight Lieutenant Neil Lindsay out into space through a gaping hole in the Lancaster’s fuselage, the plane a raging blaze.

His parachute unstable, he was now 17,000 ft above enemy territory and falling fast with the Germans already taking potshots at him.

Miraculously he survived.

One of his prison camps was the infamous Stalag 13 in The Great Escape movie.

In his role as camp ‘duty pilot’ he’d misspell the names of visiting highranking Germans to distract these haughty officials from what was actually going on under their very noses.

Neil also flew with the legendary Guy Gibson VC of Damn Busters fame.

And for the full incredible story get Jeff Steel’s latest book, The Impossible Survivor.

I’m Laurie Smale … Till my next Magic Minute.🪄
