Magic Minute Ya Got Trouble!

MAGIC MINUTE // It happened in my old Australia-Post mail van, hurtling around the back streets of Toorak with the side door open clearing mail boxes.

In full voice, I was rehearsing a patter number from The Music Man – Trouble in River City – for an upcoming TV audition.

“Well ya got trouble my friends, right here, I say trouble right here in River City! Why sure I’m a billiard player certainly mighty proud to say it, always mighty proud to say it!…

But suddenly I wasn’t alone.

I turned and a motorcycle cop was alongside me screaming in my face:

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”

“I’m rehearsing a song.”

“Well you better bloody well stop it, and keep your eyes on the road or you’ll be the one that’s in trouble!”

With that he sped off.

Lucky escape.

From then on I was a bit more careful… but I got the part!
