How to take the panic out of wedding toasts
“Inspirational speaker, author and seasoned speaking coach Laurie Smale is no stranger to the panic that many people experience from public speaking. He has conquered his fear though, and so can you. He, too, experienced sweaty palms, a shaky voice and other debilitating effects when speaking in front of a group of people. Thankfully, he was able to overcome it to the point that he now helps others to not only conquer the fear of public speaking but excel when doing so.
The following tips are from his book and CD program: One Step to Panic-Free Public Speaking and will help ensure your wedding toasts and speeches at your reception are not only easy, but also uplifting and memorable.”

The Donburnian
‘The impact technology has on the world, both in the past and the future’, that was the topic for Donburn’s Annual Public Speaking night this year! With the help of Laurie Smale, who assisted with running a public speaking workshop, we brainstormed different scenarios. The scenarios would help us conquer our fears of speaking in front of a large group. All of the year 5/6 students produced fantastic speeches! The night was held in our school hall on Thursday, September 8.”

Week 6: Reality of Networking By Holly-Jaye Dean
“International Speaker and Coaching Guru, Laurie Smale deems it crucial for one to be truly informed and passionate about a topic in order of convey conviction: “Have a clear idea of the purpose of your speech and keep this end clearly in mind. Know precisely where your presentation is meant to take your listeners. What exactly is it that you want them to be thinking when you step down from the platform? What specific action do you want them to take? How do you want them to feel? Now decide what vivid, illustrative examples you are going to use to take them there. Make it a speech with impact!”

A Taste of Venice in Wantirna By Jeff Steele
Studfield Wantirna Community News
“The evening was presided over by the astonishing Laurie Smale. Laurie is a true-blue Aussie who just happens to speak excellent Italian, or, as Il Globo was delighted to describe it, ‘spigliatissimo italiano’

Rowville-Lysterfield Community News
“Rotary Club of Knox Leads The Fun What a great night! How often do you hear comments like ‘arguably the best Rotary event in years’? How often do people go up to the band and say ‘we really enjoyed your playing and singing’? How often are organisers thinking about next year’s event while this year’s event is still running? In a nutshell, the Venezia Night, a partnership between the Rotary Club of Knox and the Knox Italian Community Club was a roaring success from beginning to end. This was down to the planning talent, enthusiasm and vision of two men: Michael and Bill. Laurie Smale was a genial MC with a command of Italian rare for someone from an Anglo background.”

Balancing life and the office
By Margaret Seedsman in the Australian Financial Review
“Laurie Smale, much in demand as an inspirational speaker, recently attended the national convention of the National Speakers Association of Australia in Adelaide. What struck him was that he heard speaker after speaker talk about their successful careers, and their only regret was that the demands of their work had often kept them distant from their families during the years of growing up…”
