Magic Minute Magic Mountain

MAGIC MINUTE // When I first heard the term Tower Hill I thought, “Sounds pretty mundane and ordinary to me!”

But on descending into the Tower Hill National Park I found myself at the bottom of a massive crater of an extinct volcano, 4 km wide with breathtaking views of a large lake with two sizable Islands, surrounded by lush green bushland thriving in this sheltered climate… as well as Kangaroos and emu happily wandering the picnic areas and walkways with us visitors.

And the 80m high cliffs falling away from the crater’s rim was something else again!

Apparently the destructive combination of molten lava coming into contact with a strata of water bearing Rock literally blew the mountain away.

And all this not far from Melbourne. Amazing!

I’m Laurie Smale… Till my next Magic Minute. 🪄
