Magic Minute Nuggets In The Chicken Shed

MAGIC MINUTE // When I was a mischievous 5-year-old I couldn’t believe what I was seeing in Edie Davidson’s chicken shed.

‘Could this really be true?’ I thought, and quickly undid the latch to get a closer look.

And sure enough, there they were, a mouthwatering heap of thrown-out scones, beckoning me to join my Feathered Friends in this unexpected feast among their old feathers and droppings.

That day, all was well with the world.

I even found some that still had raisins in them that the chooks hadn’t got yet!

Decades later, I came across Edie Davidson again and she said: “I’ll never forget the time I found you in the chicken shed eating my mouldy old scones with the chooks.

All part of life’s experiences I guess.
