MAGIC MINUTE // Learning from Life – Hi I’m Laurie Smale

Some years ago, I did my first Rotary Club talk.

A complete disaster. I couldn’t get out of there quickly enough.

I did my best to live up to its pretentious title, “The getting of wisdom,” but my words rang empty.

It was plain awful, but I didn’t chuck the tail in.

Six years later, I found myself doing an important keynote talk and after it a man walked up and said, “I once saw you give a talk at a Rotary Club that would have to be one of the worst talks I’ve ever seen. Tonight would have to be one of the best! Thought you might like to know that!”

So, we can recover from a serious humiliation and get ourselves back on track.
