MAGIC MINUTE // ‘Face in the Crowd’ – Hi I’m Laurie Smale.

The excitement was unbearable for the Kernot Country School Concert was about to begin yet 8-year-old Patricia McKee felt sad for her Mummy and Daddy would not be there.

They ran the General Store which doubled as the manual telephone exchange where urgent calls could come through at any time.

So attending community activities was never possible.

Yet, as the curtain of the Kernot Hall slowly opened, little Patricia couldn’t believe her eyes, for there in the front row was her mother with the biggest smile on her face.

What joy we felt Patricia remembers.

My prayers had been answered.

When a loved one needs you, be there for them.
