MAGIC MINUTE // “Ever wonder what the term antioxidants in the food we eat means?
Well I have! Till I heard Dr Norman Swan’s simple explanation on his ABC Health Report.
Put simply, antioxidant means anti-rusting.
Just like we see old iron rusting away in nature, the same oxidizing process eats away at the iron particles in the cells of our body.
So supplementing our diet with foods rich in antioxidants slows this process down and keeps our intake of iron healthy.
Of course for medical advice on these matters you’d see your doctor, but the point I’m making here is always keep your explanations simple.
Because of this, I seek out foods rich in antioxidants for I now have a basic understanding of what they are and the role they play in doing me good.
