MAGIC MINUTE // ‘A Touch Of Kindness’ – Hi I’m Laurie Smale.

Deathly weak, my head began to spin.

In spite of a stormy night she’d tracked me down to my dingy room at the back of that tenement block.

I was about 20 at the time and just befriended an elderly lady in my Italian class called Josie.

She was a sweetie, and we’d sit together helping each other with our work then a nasty bout of influenza laid me low for days and in my delirium I heard knocking and barely made it to the door and there in the wind and rain was my old classmate Josie.

“I’d heard you were not well, so I’ve made you some nice vegetable soup,” she said. I’ll never forget that life-saving flask of delicious soup prepared with such kindness.
